some family portraits, so, you are invited to send a picture and short
manuscript about your parents, grandparents or yourself.
Suggested subjects: Was your relative born here. If not, when and where did they come from? Did they have a farm or work in town? How did they manage during the “Great Depression,” before electricity or rationing in the World War II years? Remember to add your recollections of Toppenish and the valley. |

The family of Arthur
L and Cedora (Jones) Bozarth who owned and operated the Bozarth Nursing
Home at 307 North E Street from 1927-1932. After the death of Cedora in
1932 their daughter, Blanche Richards, took over. The nursing home was
in operation until the Central Valley Hospital opened in Toppenish.

It’s off to work we go. These geese are headed to the mint fields for a day of weeding. They disliked the taste of the mint so only ate the weeds. At night they were brought back to pens and given a daily ration of grain. Photo circa 1940. |
